You may still also view all the pages about the funeral and the preparations for it during that first, sad week of September 1997.

The funeral of Diana, Princess of Wales took place on Saturday, 6th September, at 11.00 a.m. BST (10:00 am GMT) at Westminster Abbey.

The moving tribute by Earl Spencer, the bother of Diana at her funeral is reproduced in full here.

At the request of the families, the coffin of Diana, Princess of Wales laid privately in the Chapel Royal, within St. James's Palace, before the funeral. Her coffin was carried in Procession to Westminster Abbey on the morning of the funeral.

Following the service at Westminster Abbey, the coffin of Diana, Princess of Wales was taken by road to the Spencer family home at Althorp for private burial.
